| About

Mahealane is a Hawaiian name meaning “light of the full silver moon”. Born in Hawaii, raised in Michigan, now living in Los Angeles, Mahealane is an artist, freelance musician, artist manager and cat parent. Black American Music is the root inspiration for her songwriting style, trumpet playing and singing. Mahealane performed with her band for the Writer’s Block showcase at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood and was an official performing artist at the SXSW Festival 2022 in Austin, TX. Mahealane’s work as a trumpeter has included performing with Flor De Toloache (Grammy-winning Mariachi), Norwegian electronic pop duo Lematire and most recently with Harry Styles for his headlining Coachella 2022 debut.

Inspirations for Mahealane's vocal and instrumental music both combine her Jazz/pop sensibilities with a love for the strange and beautiful sonic maps. Heavily inspired by Hiatus Kaiyote as well as great composers from Rimsky-Korsakov to Miles Davis. Her debut EP Magical Complicated showcases her vocal, trumpet and songwriting development. The instrumental EP collaboration with partner PRNDL Space Jams surpassed 1 million streams on Spotify. Follow up singles for the collaboration include Loaf Guy and Dolphun. Mahealane and PRNDL released their first full length album [San Fernando Laser Tag] September 2022.
